Our church story...
Church History
Our church boasts a unique history, spanning more than 70 years of transformation and growth. After the Second World War, a visionary Christian couple, Mr & Mrs Porter, took the bold step of turning an old damaged pub into a church. In 1982 Pastor George Thomas faithfully took over leading the church work until his retirement in 1994.
Building family
In November 1996, William & Primrose Morson, embarked on continuing the church’s growth and have been dedicated to serving the community ever since.
The local council began a regeneration project in the area in 2016, so the church relocated to temporary building for three years while preparations were made for our new permanent home on the original site.
In 2025 Pastor Solomon Penumuchi joined CPC to continue to build on the foundation established by the pastors before him.
The building you see today may look very different to what it once was but the main focus has always been about the people and building up God’s family.
Church Vision
Our purpose is to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to everyone! We want to encourage each other to grow in maturity, wisdom and character, in unity and in love. We desire anyone who comes through our doors to have a divine encounter with God's love.
We believe in the power of forgiveness and God’s amazing grace. We aim to promote Christ-likeness and welcome the Holy Spirit to bring fresh transformation and restoration, on an individual level as well as collectively.
